Mirrors and Windows of History

This month we take time to honor and highlight the achievements of African Americans who have been trailblazers and windows for us to see that we too can be great. The main character, Aria, from The Message in the Mirror didn't believe in her own greatness at first, but by the end of the book she realized that she could become a lawyer, dancer, doctor, innovator and even a writer if she wanted. Click the pictures below to learn about some great books that will teach you more about these women, and how they lived the message in the mirror by believing in their power.

They were great and you can be too!

MICHELLE OBAMA, FORMER FIRST LADY AND LAWYER

MAE JEMISON, ASTRONAUT

MISTY COPELAND, DANCER

IDA B WELLS, WRITER
