On January 21, 2019 offices and schools will be closed to celebrate the life of Dr. King. However his actual birthday is on January 15th. When reflecting on his life several words resound: freedom, equality, justice, nonviolence; LOVE! In the book, My Uncle Martin’s Words, we learn more about the leader, uncle, preacher and visionary through the eyes of his niece. Full of inspiration and captivating images often depicting a time that was cruel and unfair to African Americans, this book will leave young readers inspired, motivated, uplifted and proud. Don’t wait until Black History Month to teach children about the accomplishments of others; start now!
