I distinctly remember where I was at that time the plane hit the first tower. I was instructing students in my 4th grade class. The devastation, the worry, sadness , fear their flooded my souls that day will forever be a part of me...History.

Today September 11th even with a history that brings sadness, also brings pride as I reflect on how Americans United. For many children today, this is a history of which they are unaware and yet in sharing it we can help them connect with humanity and learn to appreciate America.

Many things have changed but one thing has not, America is still a place of freedom. Yes, there are challenges and problems but we are resilient and learning to value our diversity and continue to band together when needed. This is essentially the premise of the book, Towers Falling!

Though fictional, it presents a realistic look at friendships, the power of great educators, family challenges, and uniquely outlines the beauty of America. Some elements of history include the fact that the towers was attacked in 2001, and that today there is a memorial in the place where the towers once stood. This book would be a perfect read to share information about September 11th in a safe way.
